The Nicholas Group is always interested in reviewing resumes of candidates experienced in the Petrochemical, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, and Power Industries, as well as on other major capital and maintenance programs.  Please read the job titles and descriptions below. This position would require, initially, meetings with all plant counter parts investigating/confirming process, control interfaces and battery limits between the plant(s) and the Ethylene Pipeline.  

Command and control protocol with regard to all involved equipment ( SBV, ESD, etc ) will need to be agreed upon and reflected in the Pipeline PFD’s, P&ID’s and Schematics. This lead position will be responsible for the creation of these preliminary drawings. After universal approval of the preliminary PFD’s, P&ID’s and Schematics, these drawings will be received up to REV 0 and issued to the project team. The Lead Process Engineer will then start with the creation of all equipment data sheets and issue to the respective leads. . At that point, the Lead Process Engineer, with the assistance of the other discipline leads ( Mechanical, etc ), will start the generation of equipment requisitions. The resultant vendor quotes will also be reviewed by the lead process engineer with regard to acceptability of vendor process conditions and duty points.

Project Consultant:  The Project Consultant will be responsible for the execution of the project. As such, the Project Consultant is held accountable by the client for completion of the project as scheduled, within budget and according to the quality specified. The project scope includes engineering, procurement, construction and start-up of on-sites, off-sites and utilities. The Project Consultant's responsibilities also include project administration, engineering, detailed design, drafting, project control, procurement, construction and start-up. The Project Consultant is additionally responsible for assisting in organizing, selecting and the overall supervision of the project team. EXPERIENCE IN PETROCHEMICAL, CHEMICAL, PHARMACEUTICAL AND POWER A PLUS.

Project Engineering Consultant:  The Project Engineering Consultant will be responsible for ensuring that a consistent engineering approach is taken throughout the project and that the engineering design and execution meets the client's minimum requirements. Additionally, the Project Engineering Consultant is responsible for ensuring that the project is managed in a proper and professional manner so as to deliver a completed facility within the requirements or safety, cost, schedule and quality. EXPERIENCE IN PETROCHEMICAL, CHEMICAL, PHARMACEUTICAL AND POWER A PLUS.

Project Controls Planner:

  • The successful candidate must have a strong communication and interpersonal skills, they must be able to facilitate meetings, interact with client personnel, contract personnel and vendors.
  • The person should have the ability to read and understand project scope & design documents including mechanical, civil and structural (I&E would be a benefit).
  • The person must be able to understand a requested job or project and then identify the individual work tasks that required and document each step in written form based on job walk downs or input from other team members.
  • The person should be able to develop cost and duration estimates for oilfield turnaround tasks/projects.
  • The person should have the ability and experience to resource load work steps including manpower and equipment.
  • The person should have a strong understanding of scheduling logic and how to create schedules using a software scheduling tool such as MS Project, Primavera, etc.  Experience in Primavera's P3e program would be a strong positive.
  • The person should have experience in project cost controls and be able to monitor, control and forecast costs during turnaround execution.
  • The person should be able to identify possible risks to project execution on an individual job level.
  • The person must be computer literate in the following basic Microsoft software programs: Word, Excel, Visio and Access.
  • The desired start date is approximately January 1, 2006, but a start date as early as December 1, 2005 could be accommodated.
  • The person must be able to manage and execute multiple projects and assignments simultaneously.
  • The duration of this assignment is indefinite, but certain persons already in the organization in the role for at entire turnaround season. (one year)

Project Controls Manager and Contracts Consultant:  The Project Controls Manager/Contracts Consultant will be responsible for the development of execution plans, schedules and the execution of all cost control activities for capital and maintenance of petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, power and related-industry programs. The Project Controls Manager/Contracts Consultant is additionally responsible for the application of control documents especially in areas of monitoring, analysis, corrective and preventive recommendations and forecasting the elements of time and cost. The Project Controls Manager/Contracts Consultant will help ensure that contract documents contain provisions for providing all project control documents necessary to perform his/her function during the course of the project. Application and monitoring will extend from the basic engineering phase, through detailed engineering, procurement, construction and start-up. EXPERIENCE IN PETROCHEMICAL, CHEMICAL, PHARMACEUTICAL AND POWER A PLUS.

Senior Cost Engineering Consultant:  The Senior Cost Engineering Consultant will be responsible for the execution and review of estimating and cost control activities. Monitoring will extend from the basic engineering phase through detailed engineering, procurement, construction and start-up. Additionally, the Senior Cost Engineering Consultant's responsibilities, with respect to cost management, include ensuring that essential functions of estimating and cost control including the control estimate, regular cost reporting, cost analysis, preventive and corrective actions and timely forecasts. EXPERIENCE IN PETROCHEMICAL, CHEMICAL, PHARMACEUTICAL AND POWER A PLUS.

Senior Planner and Scheduler Engineering Consultant:  The Senior Planning Engineering Consultant will be responsible for the execution plans, schedules, and time control activities. Activity will extend from the basic engineering phase, through detailed engineering, procurement, construction and start-up. Specifically, the Senior Planning Engineering Consultant's responsibilities, with respect to time management, include ensuring that the project is managed and directed utilizing the total project scheduling effort for the optimum strategy to achieve overall project objectives and to ensure that all schedules include appropriate definition, content and extent of time control coverage; establishing of scheduling format, overall coordination, maintenance, analysis, reporting presentation and frequency. EXPERIENCE IN PETROCHEMICAL, CHEMICAL, PHARMACEUTICAL AND POWER A PLUS.

Senior Planning and Scheduling Engineer:

  • Based on the North Slope
  • Experienced and knowledgeable with Primavera's P3e scheduling software.
  • Advanced to Mid-level experience with the specific application P3e is required.
  • Should have a history of using P3e to develop schedules for either Turnarounds or project related work.
  • The successful candidate will be required to work with a small team to create and maintain comprehensive P3e schedules for as many as 7 different turnaround events.
  • Person will be responsible for entering task data, durations and resource information provided by other team members into schedules.
  • Person will be responsible for creation of P3e views and reports as requested by team members. 

Senior Estimating Engineering Consultant:  The Senior Estimating Engineering Consultant assigned to the project will be responsible for the development of estimates to be used for funding and control. Application and monitoring will extend from the basic engineering phase, through detailed engineering, procurement, construction and start-up of capital and maintenance of petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, power and related-industry programs. EXPERIENCE IN PETROCHEMICAL, CHEMICAL, PHARMACEUTICAL AND POWER A PLUS.

Automation Engineering Consultant:  The Automation Engineering Consultant will be responsible for representing the client in the daily execution of the project with regards to process control system engineering, design and construction and to evaluate control systems issues and facilitate timely resolution necessary to meet the safety, cost, schedule and quality requirements of the project. EXPERIENCE IN PETROCHEMICAL, CHEMICAL, PHARMACEUTICAL AND POWER A PLUS.

Construction Coordination Consultant:  The Construction Coordination Consultant will be responsible for monitoring project construction at the job-site. The Construction Coordination Consultant will review engineering drawings for constructability during the engineering phase of the project by consulting with the project team during the detailed engineering reviews. The Construction Coordination Consultant will review the field organization, plans, and construction performance in accordance with the construction specifications and the Job Specification. The Construction Coordination Consultant will also be responsible for quality assurance. Job-site monitoring responsibilities will include contract administration, constructability, construction, quality assurance, safety and environmental considerations. EXPERIENCE IN PETROCHEMICAL, CHEMICAL, PHARMACEUTICAL AND POWER A PLUS.

Construction Monitoring Consultant:  The Construction Monitoring Consultant will be responsible for reviewing plans, drawings and specifications and the monitoring of the quality and quantity of the subcontractor's physical execution at the job-site. Monitoring at the job-site will include installation, fabrication, erection, quality assurance, quantity survey verification, safety and environmental considerations. Specifically, the Construction Monitoring Consultant's responsibilities include site preparation and earthwork, concrete work, underground piping and sewer work, structural steel installations, pressure vessel installations, mechanical equipment installations, furnace installations, piping installations, instrumentation installation, electrical installations, insulation and painting. EXPERIENCE IN PETROCHEMICAL, CHEMICAL, PHARMACEUTICAL AND POWER A PLUS.
